Seriuosly, one of the coolest books I've read in a LONG time. If you are a geek that grew up in the 80s, you gotta read this book.

Junior 01
Heeeeeeere's Junior! Actually, Junior is not going to be its name. We don't know if it is a boy or a girl yet. We will be doing a DNA test in the next few months. (E & J Exotic Birds)

Junior 02
We've come a long way in two weeks. It absolutely did not want us touching it on our first visit. Kept trying to bite us. Now it can't seem to get enough of us. (E & J Exotic Birds)

Junior 03
When we scratch the back of its neck it just seems to relax, almost like it was getting a massage. When we scratch it under the beak on the front part of its neck, the feathers on top of its head start stick up, almost like it was getting goosebumps. (E & J Exotic Birds)

Junior 04
A nice shot of the underwing. Had to believe that there were no feathers two weeks ago. The color is simply amazing. (E & J Exotic Birds)

Junior 05
Needless to say, I've been doing a lot of reading on macaws. Unfortunately, there are as many opinions on these birds as there are websites. Thank goodness that Juan, owner of E & J Exotic Birds, is there for me.

Junior 06
Here is the first time that we see it attempting to stand up on its legs. Simply an amazing creature. (E & J Exotic Birds)

Junior 07
Up until this point, Junior had been pretty quiet. This was the first time we heard him squawk. I expect it won't be the last. (E & J Exotic Birds)

Junior 08
I swear, it looks like he is smiling. (E & J Exotic Birds)

Junior 09
Yeah, in case you haven't noticed, E & J Exotic Birds is the place to go for all your exotic birds needs. I can't praise this guy enough. Juan and his wife have been around for years. They are now breeding their own birds. In fact, Junior is one of the ones they have bred. I don't know how many exotic bird stores are in Vegas, a Google search only turned up one other, but I don't believe I'll be going to anyone else.

Junior 10
So, I've been asked what is going to be its name. Well, seeing as I'm a huge X-Men fan*, if it is a girl I am going to name her Phoenix. Seriously, how cool of name is that for a bird? If it is a boy, I'm going to name him Logan and the first thing I'm going to teach it to say is "Watch it, Bub!" Heh heh heh.....
*Especially the classic X-Men with the Blue & Gold uniforms... Get it? Blue & Gold...

Junior 11
Right before we left the store, Junior decided to stand tall. I wasn't quick enough to get it at its tallest but still managed to catch it standing somewhat.

Toby 01
Toby, the resident Blue & Gold at E and J Exotic Birds. Took really no time at all for him to start trusting me. Everytime I go visit the store I try to spend some time with Toby.
-
Toby 02
Another shot of Toby. At this point I think he knew what I was doing and he really started to pose. (E & J Exotic Birds)

Toby 03
Toby, a beautiful Blue & Gold Macaw from E & J Exotic Birds.

Toby 04
I really love taking pictures of Toby. He has gotten really friendly over the last few weeks. If you look over his shoulder, you will see a Green Winged Macaw. (E & J Exotic Birds)

Green Winged 01
Here is the resident Green Winged Macaw at E & J Exotic Birds. The bird was rescued by Juan, the owner of the store. If you look at its chest you will see it missing a lot of feathers. It developed a plucking problem which has slowly been fixed. Its chest looks a lot better now than it did 3 weeks ago.

Daydreaming Alika
Alika didn't realize I was taking his picture. As soon as he heard the shutter click he went to his room. He really doesn't like his picture being taken.

Yoshi in the sun
Yoshi enjoying some time in the sun on a beautiful Sunday morning.

Raiden sunbathing
Raiden, observing over all his kingdom and his most prized possession, his ball.

Raiden on the table
Sunbathing on the table. Not sure how he got up there.
